This is the social and sporting event not to miss. Apart from those who wish to play, spectators are always welcome and a friendlier bunch you will not find. This match is open to all members of the BBCD and Christ Church as well as their friends and families.
The match will start at 13.00 with half time around about 15.00 when we will be eating salmon & cucumber, egg & cress and BLT traditional British sandwiches. As usual this treat along with all the soft drinks is being sponsored by the BBCD and is free for everybody. I am sure that members of the Church will be bringing some delicious cakes and organising the Tea as they have done in the past. For those looking for something a bit stronger, Pimm´s and beer will be offered at a nominal price.
After the second innings has been played which we hope will finish about 17.30 then we are all returning to the grounds of Christ Church for a slap up barbecue dinner. This is only about two minutes’ walk from the Cricket pitch and is once again being sponsored by the BBCD. All are invited to bring friends and family and it should be an absolute superb day. This year being the 35th anniversary of this event we are extremely lucky to be able to announce that during the B-B-Q the “Birmingham Big Band” will be playing for us, so, definitely something to look forward to.
There are still a few places open for players for the BBCD team so if anybody would like to come along and play they would be most welcome. No previous experience is necessary.
From the map below you can see that the game is being held in Nordpark on the Engländerwiese which for those who do not know it is very close to the Aqua Zoo. There is a car park at the Aqua Zoo and it is then only two minutes walk to the pitch.
We look forward to seeing you all at the match!
Best regards, Ian MacKenzie and Alan Rowlands
